This Privacy Policy explains how RatNest ("App", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the App and related cloud features.

  1. Account information (cloud mode): email, user ID, and authentication session tokens.
  2. Device and session metadata: device name, bridge service URL, and connection status.
  3. Configuration data: selected projects, permission mode, and working directory settings.
  4. Encryption passphrase: entered by you to secure bridge payloads. It may be stored locally only if you explicitly choose to remember it on your PC. When stored locally, it is protected using Windows Data Protection APIs (DPAPI).
  5. Operational logs: local application logs used for diagnostics and troubleshooting.

2. How We Use Information

  1. To authenticate your account and maintain session state in cloud mode.
  2. To run bridge features and synchronize desktop session data across devices.
  3. To encrypt and securely transmit service payloads between clients and backend services.
  4. To monitor stability, investigate failures, and improve reliability.

3. What We Do Not Do

  1. We do not sell personal data.
  2. We do not share your data with ad networks for targeted advertising.
  3. We do not use your data for third-party marketing campaigns.

4. Data Sharing

We may share data only as needed to operate the service, including:

  1. Cloud infrastructure and authentication providers that process data on our behalf.
  2. Legal authorities where required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

5. Data Retention

  1. Local settings and local logs remain on your device until removed by you or by app uninstall/cleanup.
  2. Cloud session data is retained while needed for active service functionality.
  3. You can disable stored cloud session usage by turning off "Remember user on this PC" and signing out.

6. Security

  1. Service traffic uses protected network transport.
  2. Encryption mechanisms are used to protect sensitive bridge payloads.
  3. You are responsible for keeping your passphrase confidential and secure.

7. Your Choices and Rights

  1. You can sign in or sign out at any time.
  2. You can choose whether to remember your cloud user on a PC.
  3. You can clear any saved encryption passphrase from the App.
  4. You may request account/data actions by contacting us through the support contact listed in the Microsoft Store listing for the App.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be published on this page with a new effective date.
